This report summarises the results of the SET_HEAT project’s activities on the identification of key needs and challenges related to the uptake of low-grade heat into the existing high-temperature DH networks. It also includes an updated identification of critical barriers and obstacles. The results make the basis for further project activities in forthcoming work packages, such as specific studies, dedicated audits, etc. This report can also be used to trigger relevant coordination with external stakeholders. In particular, it provides information that may be useful for municipalities and policymakers. Although the analysis was tailored for retrofitting of DH systems run by the consortium partners ECO, ECO, VST, TEB, HEP and specific to the regions covered by the project in many aspects it applies to other fossil-fuel-fired DH systems in Europe.

The 2nd Internal Knowledge Transfer and Training Workshop took place from 16th to 18th April 2024 at the premises of VILNIAUS ŠILU-MOS TINKLAI (VST). The main goal of the workshop in Vilnius was to identify key issues and develop an energy transition and decarbonisation vision for the district heating system of Vilnius.
Phasing out fossil fuels (natural gas) by 2030. The main pillars of the energy transition until 2040 are numerous projects integrating renewable energy sources and waste heat with the heating network.
The 1st Internal Knowledge Transfer and Training Workshop took place from 12th to 14th March 2024 at the headquarters of ECO S.A. The main goal was to identify key issues and develop an energy transition and decarbonisation vision for the Opole DH system, and a draft plan to be communicated to stakeholders. The first draft vision of the decarbonisation pathway paves the way for further studies and specific investment projects.
In many aspects, the SET_HEAT project is a unique action. Please find our first newsletter which covers 6 months of the project's roll-out phase.
